Pittsburgh-born and Miami-based designer John Geiger launched his 002 sneaker on August 31, 2018 and all pairs of the $300 silhouette sold out in a matter of minutes.
The 002 is a sneaker boot featuring a black knit upper and white midsole. The shoe is marked by a unique lacing system, which comes with instructions. The shoe follows Geiger’s 001 sneaker, a more traditional black and white hightop leather silhouette, which dropped in February 2018.
Geiger gifted true sneaker head Teyana Taylor with a pair of the 002 kicks and credited her as the first woman to embrace his “Misplaced Checks” custom Air Force 1 sneakers. In an Instagram post he wrote, “It Was Only Right She Was The First In The 002’s! Killed It ”
“Misplaced Checks” is a reference to a custom Nike Air Force 1 by Geiger that features multiple Nike Swooshes, a shoe that made its debut in 2015 and subsequently has seen several re-releases.
While the 002 is now sold out, Geiger promises there will be additional pairs, which will include women’s sizing. For everyone who tried and couldn’t get a pair don’t worry we will be releasing more in the near future. Stay tuned we just getting started!!
