September 14, 2018: Slick Woods confirmed on her Instagram account she went into labor after walking in the Savage X Fenty New York Fashion Week show. In the caption, she wrote, “A lewk, 14 hours of labor, and A king is born. This is the face of a WOMAN IN LABOR, we hold shit down most of us don’t even know how much we’re going through, I’m here to say I CAN DO WHATEVER THE FUCK I WANT WHENEVER THE FUCK I WANT AND SO CAN YOU.”
September 13, 2018 update: Slicks Woods according to TMZ went into labor following Rihanna’s Savage X Fenty presentation, held in Brooklyn during the evening of September 12th. Given Woods sees Rihanna as a mother figure, one who gave birth to her modeling career, it’s seem incredibly apt she would begin labor while modeling at her mentor’s show.
August 5, 2018 update: Slick Woods has confirmed to Elle magazine that her baby’s father is Adonis Bosso. The two are dating, but live on separate coasts with Bosso in Los Angeles and Woods in Brooklyn. She also confirmed the baby is a boy whose name will be Saphir, the name of a September birthstone, the month he’s due to be born. Furthermore, she plans to breastfeed and singer Erykah Badu will be her douala during childbirth.

Brooklyn-based model Slick Woods aka Simone Thompson has not yet made an official announcement using words, but on her Instagram last night (July 2, 2018) she posted two poolside images showing she is clearly pregnant.
Comments under the image were like a who’s-who in the fashion and music world with Leomie Anderson, Justine Skye, Joan Smalls, Amber Rose, Mel Ottenberg, Chromat, Tyler the Creator (“I hope it has that gap yesssss”), Adwoa Aboa, Yara Shahidi, Rico Nasty, Erykah Badu, Karrueche, Kaia Gerber, Stella Maxwell, Heather Sanders, Adam Selman, Taraji P. Heson, Melissa Forde, Azealia Banks, Diplo and more all extending heartfelt congratulations.
And again, while there was no official announcement from the father, model Adonis Bosso reposted Woods’ pregnancy image in his Instagram stories. Further connecting Woods and Bosso, Twitter user @venusin12th dug up images of the duo walking hand in hand at a fashion event in September 2016. Not long after, Bosso posted an image in support of Woods’ mother, who according to The Guardian was sent to prison when Woods was four and is serving the final year of an 18-year sentence for manslaughter in upstate California.
And yet, in a September 2017 Evening Standard article, Woods discussed having her heart broken by model Ebonee Davis. As well, when a commenter wrote, “What? I though she was lesbo” under the pregnancy photo, Woods replied, “To think we live in a world where people still confuse sexuality with reproduction. Grow up.” As such, it’s entirely possible Bosso is the father, but not her boyfriend. He might also just be a supportive friend.
Born in Minneapolis, the 21-year-old Woods got her first big break with a Yeezy lookbook and subsequently has opened shows for Fenty Puma and appeared in Fenty Beauty and Fenty-x-Savage campaigns. Needless to say, Rihanna is a big fan.
The 27-year-old Bosso was born in Côte d’Ivoire and has walked runways for many of fashion’s heaviest hitters, including Acne Studios, John Elliott, Hood by Air, Dolce & Gabbana, Tommy Hilfiger and Yeezy among many others.
If Bosso is the father, clearly this baby is going to be blessed genetically. Often there is talk of rock and rap royalty, but the progeny of these two would very much be model royalty.
