Theophilus London yesterday released his album, Vibes!, an effort that boast executive production by Kanye West. The effort also includes a verse from West (“It aint Ralph, tho!”) plus contributions from Devonte Hynes and Jesse Boykins. You can listen to the entire album here via Soundstream. It will be launched officially by Warner Brothers on November 4th. It’s a beautiful feeling, soulfully dense album that invites repeated listens, perfect for highway driving or times spent home on a rainy day.
That being said, after much build up, the level of fanfare around the record seems less than it should be, which might explain why London fired off some Tweets earlier today complaining about marketing of the album and in one (since deleted) said he had fired the person responsible for his marketing. Since then London has Tweeted there are plans for album release parties in six cities and plans for a video which may include West. Said London, “Ye also wanted me to tell yall he is super stoked and can’t stop and happy u guys fuck with his verse. We working on video soon my loves.”
