Kim Kardashian West has announced plans to launch KKW Beauty, a line she will kick off with a countouring kick. Much like it made total sense that her puffy-lipped little sister Kylie Jenner would start her line with lip kits, it also is logical that Kardashian would go with countouring, a form of makeup application she may not have invented, but elevated into a widely popular technique.
The line will be manufactured by Seed Beauty, the Oxard, California company that also makes Kylie Cosmetics. Packaged in mauve-hued minimalist containers embossed with Kardashian’s initials, each crème contour and highlight kit comes with a dual-ended contour stick and dual-ended highlighter (one matte and one shimmer highlight) and a dual-ended blending brush and sponge. The kits are priced at $48 and are available in four shades: light, medium, dark and deep dark.
Give her credibility as a makeup expert, the endeavor will surely add to the pile of money she’s already amassed. This year, her income put her at spot No. 47 with $47.5 million in pretax income on Forbes recently-published top 100 highest paid entertainers.
“This year has been really exciting for me because it’s the first time I’ve moved away from having licensing deals and transitioned into being an owner,” said Kardashian commenting on the details of the makeup line at the Forbes Women’s Summit, a gathering of women entrepreneurs and leaders in New York.
According to Forbes, Kardashian’s mobile game accounted for 40 percent of her $51 million income in 2016, a feat that landed her on the cover of the magazine. While the game revenue from its in-app purchases and decline 50 percent year over year, it’s staying power is viewed as above average in the world of free mobile games..
And while Kardashian’s 2017 income as calculated by Forbes is down from 2016’s total, the year includes three months she took off after being robbed in Paris.
The KKW Beauty store will open on June 21, 207, at 9:00 AM PST on kkwbeauty.com. Check out a preview of her line below.
