D.C native Kelela Mizanekristos aka Kelela has debuted her long awaited album Take Me Apart on Warp records to the joy of many who have been eagerly awaiting the release since her “Hallucinogen” mixtape in 2015.
The 14-song album is a smooth collection of songs exploring, love, loss and the struggle of it all. In a post on Instagram, Kelela wrote, “Feels incredible to be sharing this with you. Wanna thank every single fan out there for waitin’ on me. I also wanna thank all the people who contributed…I am so grateful for your hours in the studio, your patience with the first, second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth etc changes!! IT MEANS SO MUCH TO HAVE IT SOUND THE WAY I WANTED IT TO!!!”
Known and admired for her distinct style, the album was debuted with a cover story on Fader magazine where she was shot by Renell Medrano and styled by Shibon Kenney wearing Vaquera, Sies Marjan and Dries Van Noten to name a few.
