Singer/songwriter Jhené Aiko this week posted yet another seemingly perfect image of her gorgeous visage, but caused quite a bit of chatter among her followers with a caption that read, “got laser on my face the other day and they burnt my forehead.”
When asked by a follower for more details on her skincare routine, Aiko surprised her followers when she gave a refreshingly frank and detailed response rather than the typical “water, sunscreen and sleep” answer celebs tend to give, skimming over costly procedures like laser treatments, Botox and fillers.
In her response, Aiko admitted she regularly receives Fraxel laser treatments, and also provided a long list of cleansers, serums and supplements.
“i get Fraxel about twice a year. its an intense laser treatment that improves texture, acne scars and enlarged pores. its kinda expensive. and hurts like shit. ur face micro scabs… the scabs fall off gradually… over a period of like 7 days. and then a new layer of skin is revealed… your face stays swollen for like another week. its all so worth it tho lol.” Aiko wrote, adding, “i keep up the results w/ Alastin skin care, IS clinical serums, Cera V wash, Lancer scrub and Circell ab serum. also i take collagen pills, drink kangen water, apple cider vinegar and take Super Food by Dr Shulzes daily! lol hope this answered ur question.”
It should be noted that Fraxel can be problematic for pigmented skin because of the potential for hyper-pigmentation. Putting aside that warning, below is a link to all of the skincare items Aiko mentioned in her Instagram post, which includes additional details provided in a recent NY Times profile (which also includes her favorite beauty, hair and fragrance products).
As often as possible, we provided links to the company itself rather than, say, Amazon, where there can be issues with counterfeit products.
