Moschino during London Fashion Weeek showed its Spring 2015 collection, the first runway as designed by designer Jeremy Scott. The collection included women’s offerings, making the show a further examination of the dialog started by Scott with the label’s lookbook for Resort 2015. While logos were a unifying themes, the show had three material and color stories, starting with the bright, mega-corp logo story that reminded of the McDonald’s theme shown in resort, then denim, and finishing with a black-colored street-sport collection. Within the latter two collections, Scott tweaked logos by powerhouse luxury labels Louis Vuitton, Chanel and even Moschino with jackets emblazoned with “Fauxchino.”
Scott’s excellent first runway is a delivery on the uniform delight with which seemingly the entire fashion community responded when Scott was announced at the label’s head. It goes without saying he captures the spirit of fun the label is known for, but more importantly revives founder Franco Moschino’s reputation for combining wry wit with cutting commentary.
