Rihanna turned heads at the CFDA 2014 Awards on Monday (June 2, 2014) in New York where she accepted the Fashion Icon award in a see-through Swarovski crystal dress and do-rag. Designed by Adam Selman, the see-through dress was hand-beaded with over over 230,000 crystals.
Presented with the award by Anna Wintour, the Barbados-born singer confessed to feeling nervous before she began her speech, but garnered laughs when she stated, “As far as I could remember, fashion has always been my defense mechanism. Even as a child I remember thinking, she could beat me, but she cannot beat my outfit.”
Following the event, she returned to her penthouse apartment in Manhattan where she whooped it up with her squad.
