At the CMA Awards held last week, country singer Kacey Musgraves caused a stir with her big hair, which besides just being fun, was a tribute to her own Texas roots and the genre’s bygone days when sky-high teased hair ‘dos were the norm. When asked on the red carpet about how long it took to style her hair, Musgraves took a page from Beyonce’s book and joked, “I woke up like this.” Musgraves won CMA’s award for Song of the Year for “Follow Your Arrow,” (video below) considered progressive by country music standards, with lyrics that reflects the conundrum of societal mores and rules and a recommendation that one follow one’s own path.
