For its next “Tight of the Moment” launch, Nike takes inspiration from the retro Jordan VI, the shoe memorably worn by Michael Jordan in 1991 when he one the first of six titles. According to press:
Each graphic on the tight is born from a piece of the shoe and every element of the Air Jordan VI is accounted for, including the neoprene sleeve, rear pull-tab, rubber tongue and visible Nike Air bags. Nike designers were extremely deliberate in where they placed the graphics on the tights. Their goal was for the print to flow with the female body in motion. To ensure this, designers tailored the graphics to a body map provided by the Nike Explore Team Sport Research Lab. A body map uses athlete-informed data to show where an individual’s muscles and heating and cooling zones are located, as well as where the body hinges and bends. With this knowledge, designers strategically placed the graphics on the tights to highlight these areas of the legs in a flattering fashion.
Women have long been fans of Jordan and this collaboration in a small way acknowledges the women who have rocked the brand for years and perhaps opens the door to enlist new fans. Needless to say we love it. The Nike x Jordan VI Sneaker Tight will be available in select retailers and on Nike.com on November 28th.
