As anticipated, Solange Knowles married her long-time love, Alan Ferguson, in New Orleans today. The bride and groom both wore ivory, a color also worn by members of the wedding party, including her mother, Tina Knowles (who attended with her boyfriend, Richard Lawson), her sister, Beyonce, as well as her brother-in-law, Jay Z, her son, Julez and singer Janelle Monae. The celebrations began on Friday night and culminated with the wedding on Sunday. Featured performers at the wedding party included musician friends Kelela, Questlove, and Kindness.
Solange has a well established reputation as the most fashionable member of the Knowles family and she didn’t disappoint, arriving at the ceremony with her groom on white bicycles and wearing a Stephane Rolland white backless jumpsuit with a sewn-in cape. For the actual ceremony, she wore a Humberto Leon for Kenzo white gown that also featured a cape.
And while the bicycles and New Orleans location gave the ceremony a low key feel, that doesn’t mean Solange as a member of the Knowles family doesn’t understand and appreciate the drama of a moment and served it up with formal portraits snapped by Rog Walker (first featured first on Vogue) that included the bride in goddess pose surrounded by her wedding party, including Beyonce sitting to her right, giving it up to her little sister on her big day.
All told a gorgeous affair that beautifully represented Knowles’ love of family, fashion and music, rooted in the soulful appeal of her adopted home, New Orleans.
