Kendrick Lamar recently released a single, “The Blacker the Berry,” a strong lyrical statement on blackness and the reality of the anger, fear, injustices and contradictions he faces as a black man in America. The opening verse “I’m the biggest hypocrite of 2015” barely scratches the surface of the depth Lamar expresses. Definitely an important moment for hip hop and race consciousness. Kudos!
