Snobette Sneaker Awards: Felicia’s Top Five Sneaker Picks: July-December 2014

February 1, 2015. Leave a Comment

In the sneaker world, we’ve known Felicia as long as anyone, having made her acquaintance as a key member of the FemaleSneakerFiend squad way back in our ChicksWithKicks days. Her love and deep knowledge of sneaker culture cannot be questioned.

Among our panel of five, her picks are probably the most diverse and we can tell she likes an interesting collabo for sure, but the bigger story is that she likes a shoe that tells a good story.

You can follow Felicia on Instagram here, where she does a lot of outlet reporting.

Below are Felicia’s top five picks for July-December 2014:

1. Adidas Originals EQT 93 x Pusha T
2. Nike “Escape” pack
3. New Balance x Burn Rubber 572 in “Vernors”
4. Nike Silver pack
5. Adidas EQT 91 x Highs & Lows

Below are images for her July-December picks along with her January-June selections from midway through the year.

Noah founder and J Crew men's creative director Br Noah founder and J Crew men's creative director Brendon Babenzien has a certified hit on his hands. Part of his debut collection with the retailer, the men's "giant fit" chino priced at 89.50 is 100% sold out! Relecting the popularity of the silhouette, the women's wide-leg pleated cargo is also sold out.

With wider fits and chino swinging back into popularity, we can't help but wonder what sneakers and shoes will be coming along for the ride. Any nominations?

The GOAT Serena Williams says farewell to her care The GOAT Serena Williams says farewell to her career as a professional tennis player in the September issue of American Vogue.

In the cover story, which is a must read, Williams shares some thoughts on her evolution away from tennis and says,"Believe me, I never wanted to have to choose between tennis and a family. I don’t think it’s fair. If I were a guy, I wouldn’t be writing this because I’d be out there playing and winning while my wife was doing the physical labor of expanding our family. Maybe I’d be more of a Tom Brady if I had that opportunity. Don’t get me wrong: I love being a woman, and I loved every second of being pregnant with Olympia. I was one of those annoying women who adored being pregnant and was working until the day I had to report to the hospital—although things got super complicated on the other side. And I almost did do the impossible: A lot of people don’t realize that I was two months pregnant when I won the Australian Open in 2017."

The cover editorial was styled by Gabriella Karefa-Johnson, who in 2020 became the first black woman to style a U.S. Vogue cover.

This cover was also one of the last projects hairstylist #LatishaChong worked on before she sadly passed away in July this year.

Make-up by Raisa Flowers, nails by Dawn Sterling, and photography by Luis Alberto Rodriguez.
