Sneaker boutique Packer Shoes through its popular Ewing basketball footwear imprint has announced a simultaneous collaboration with rapper Fabolous (black colorway) and singer Teyana Taylor (gold colorway) on a shoe called “Aloysius,” NBA player Patrick Ewing’s middle name. Translated from Latin to “famous in war,” the name is an apt description for Ewing’s warrior style of play as a member of the NY Knicks. Each shoe is packed with details, including a Ewing “Empire” logo on the tongue, metal-plated ankle straps featuring “NYC” and Ewing’s number, 33, which has been retired by the Knicks. Even the insoles feature a graphic of the Empire State building and the outsole includes gold speckles for added flair.
We’re excited to see Taylor back in the sneaker game. She created a lot of buzz with her Adidas Originals “Harlem” GLC sneaker, which evaporated upon launch. A second collaboration was cut short by an ugly exchange of words and images between Taylor and Rihanna on social media, which caused Adidas to end its partnership with Taylor.
These shoes will launch March 26th at S.O.B.’s in lower Manhattan and exclusive to the event, each pair of shoes will include a “VII” shoe lacelock. Priced at $150, they are available in men’s sizes 5-15. More launch details here.
