Janelle has released a video for a single called ‘Yoga,” a song that flips the prevalent notion of female dance as a sexual endeavor done in the service of men to a healthful, fun activity. In the song, Monáe emphasizes ownership of her physical body, describing herself as her “own private dancer,” adding, “you cannot police me so get off my areola.” The catchy song includes a guest by newcomer Jidenna and will be included on a compilation called Eephus with a May 6th release date, launched under the umbrella of her newly-formed music label, Wondaland.
