Check out the latest video by New York’s Waffle Crew dancers, inspired by Kanye West’s performance in Paris of the song “All Day,” which included the infamous dance move that launched a thousand Vines (video below).
The Waffle Crew has been featured in videos, ads and has performed at various events, including an Adidas shoe launch. This Saturday, they will conduct an interactive dance performance at Brooklyn Museum’s First Saturday event. Style is a big part of dance crew culture and if you keep an eye on their fashion choices, you can see that they’re being seeded shoes from the Adidas collaboration with Pharrell, which, smart move Adidas (we just hope the crew is properly compensated with more than just shoes). The crew also is planning to sell its own signature tee, which you can see below. We will update when we have details on where they plan to sell it.
Waffle Crew is one of many New York dance crews that have grown in prominence over the last couple of years. In part, they’re a revisit of ’90s hiphop culture (that never really went away) but they’ve also gained a higher profile because of their subway “Showtime” performances. Unfortunately they aren’t seen as much on the subways because the NYPD made it illegal to perform in the cars and begin arresting dancers last spring. They’re still allowed to perform in stations and on the street.
