WWD has announced the launch of a weekly publication, whose first edition (now available) includes multiple covers, featuring the designers for six different labels. Included are Alexander Wang, The Row’s Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, Proenza Schouler’s Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez, J.W. Anderson, Sacai’s Chitose Abe and Christopher Kane, as photographed in black and white by Nigel Parry. According to a letter from editor Edward Nardoza:
“This new weekly will offer context, trends, deeper analysis and compelling imagery. We’ll dig into the fashion, social, cultural and economic developments underpinning a business that’s shot through with contradictions: high/low, chic/vulgar, humble/egomaniacal, authentic/ pretentious, celebratory/tragic.”
The weekly publication replaces the daily print newspaper, whose last edition published on April 24th. The magazine is also available in a PDF download for yearly subscribers to the website. The changes follow new ownership for WWD and all publications in the Fairchild publications family, which were sold by Condé Nast to Penska Publications in August 2014.
