“Bitch, I’m Madonna” featuring Nick Minaj is the third single off Madonna’s latest album, Rebel Heart. Co-written by Diplo, the Jonas Åkerlund-directed video is getting a lot of press because it includes cameo appearances by Madonna’s two sons, Rocco and David, Rita Ora, Alexander Wang, Miley Cyrus, Kanye West, and Beyoncé, yes, even Beyoncé.
As for the music itself, as tone deaf as Madonna has been at times in the latter portion of her enduring pop career, this song is the first in a while that seems to “work” in large part because, well, she IS Madonna, a woman who only has blazed about a million trails including among many other feats recently charting her 45th No. 1 single on the dance/club songs chart, the most number ones on any one chart of all musicians in all the land. Have some respect, ya’ll.
On a side note, one other small dynamic is that the video was a Tidal exclusive yesterday, but received wide release today. Other Tidal exclusive videos like Minaj and Beyonce’s “Feeling Myself” remain under lock and key. Then again, them bitches aint Madonna 😉
