Rihanna last night at midnight released the video for her single “Bitch Better Have My Money.” Directed by Rihanna and Megaforce, the video has a mean streak showing Rihanna and pals kidnapping and torturing a well off woman, who we eventually discover is “the wife in the trunk” mentioned in the song’s lyrics. The video ends with knives, blood spatters, what looks like a murder and Rihanna of course getting her money.
As a woman, Rihanna may get some push back for the violence and language, but it’s standard fare for a lot of videos and movies that feature a male as the lead with the only difference being it’s always the guy in charge of the torturing. Plus there is a certain wink-wink aspect to it that clearly implies none of the content should be taken all that seriously. It’s just Rih-Rih having fun.
