Afropunk’s concerts have always been a free-flowing gorgeous display of creativity and individual style. In addition to the heavy-hitter lineup for its upcoming concert in Brooklyn (including Lauryn Hill, Grace Jones and Lenny Kravitz), Afropunk has collaborated with designer Lamine Kouyaté through his label Xuly.Bët to create a capsule collection of concert merchandise.
Xuly.Bët now based in Paris once had a boutique on Orchard Street in New York in the ’90s and was known as the place to go for edgy, conceptual apparel consisting of reworked garments. His designs for Afropunk featured wax fabric tees, sweatshirts and Dashikis, all emblazoned with gold over-sized gold lettering. Definitely a move in the right fashion direction for Afropunk!
