Adidas in step with New York Fashion Week last night opened a Tubular pop-up gallery in SoHo featuring a energetic performance by Future backed by DJ Esco, plus a photography throughout the space as shot by Brian Alcazar, Humza Deaz, Christina Paik, VisualsbyPierre, Brock Fetch and Natalia Mantini. It’s a move that builds on the style credibility of the silhouette, as begun with another Tubular event held during Paris Men’s Fashion Week in February.
The SoHo space also has a retail function and two different limited edition versions of the Tubular silhouette will be sold today and tomorrow, the Runner Primeknit and the Primeknit Snake. The space is now open to the public and is located at 115 Prince Street in SoHo.
On a side note, one thing we chatted about at the event was sneaker dress code rules for attending brand-specific parties. We are firmly in the camp of NOT wearing a shoe by a competitor to events like this. So if Adidas is throwing the party, wear no Nike, etc., and vice versa. What are your thoughts on wearing brands to events sponsored by a competitor?
