New York-based Georgine’s collection for Spring 2016 showed once again the young designer talent (just 24!) for introducing energy and edge into sleek and minimalist looks with tons of transitional appeal. Like most women, the line is simple yet complicated, revealing unexpected details like cut-out backs and fur sleeves. The soundtrack for the runway presentation was David Bowie circa “Space Oddity,” which synced up perfectly with the collection’s future-mod, hint-of-glam edge. Commenting on the music choice, the designer said, “Once we saw the clothes on the rack we thought there is no other choice, it has to be David Bowie.” And indeed, while black is one trend emerging from the Spring shows, on the opposite end of the scale, so is shimmer, shine and color, a look whose notes Georgine hits pitch perfectly.
