Amber Rose Advice For Curving Slut Shamers

AR1

January 30, 2016. Leave a Comment

You can’t write this level of timing…fresh off a slut-shaming Twitter attack in which entrepreneur and author Amber Rose‘s most famous ex, Kanye West, dismissed her as a stripper who trapped her husband, Wiz Khalifa, Rose is featured in a Time magazine article in which she tells her fans the key to happiness is not worrying about what people think about you. Rose discusses the sexual double standard and says she can’t help but be especially disappointed by female critics who uphold the view that what’s okay for men in terms of sexual activity and partners isn’t for women. Says Rose:

“I’d go out for a date at a restaurant like any normal single human and people would say, ‘Man, she’s such a ho. She’s out at restaurants with guys.’ Then they would see my ex-husband with a bunch of women. They would say, ‘He’s the man! That’s so cool.’ So when I went on a date, I’m a whore, and when he’s piling girls in a car, he’s the man? There’s something wrong here.”

Rose goes on to say if you care too much, you’re not living at your full potential. Says Rose, “When you really stop caring about what people say, that’s when you really start living. It’s such an amazing feeling. It’s about loving who you are, owning who you are and knowing that it’s okay to live your life how you want to live it.”

Givenchy reative director Matthew M. Williams will Givenchy reative director Matthew M. Williams will step down from the role following a three-year stint with the LVMH-owned label. Williams will present his final collection with a men's and women's pre-fall 2024 collection, to be unveiled in the coming days.

Leading the creative direction of Givenchy was, as I said upon my arrival in 2020, the dream of a lifetime,” Williams said in the statement. “Over these three years, I have strived to perpetuate Mr. Hubert de Givenchy’s legacy while bringing my own creative vision and I would like to sincerely thank the studio, Renaud de Lesquen and LVMH for this incredible opportunity.”

While Williams was credited with the buzzworthy Shark boot and Voyou handbag, he was often derided by the online fashion community for falling short of achieiving the same level of buzz and cool when the label was under Riccardo Tisci's creative direction from 2005 to 2017.

Williams will continue to head creative direction for his own label, 1017 Alyx 9SM, which recently announced plans to ramp up production and expand door count through a parntership with Adrian Cheng, a Hong Kong entrepreneur.
