With a tie between three sneaker silhouettes, we ask our followers on all our social media channels to choose the grand prize winner of the Snobette Sneaker Awards 2015. While the Adidas Originals Superstar was a close second, in the end, Fenty by Puma’s Creeper took home first prize.
As long time fans of Rihanna, it comes as no surprise to us that the deep-into-fashion singer would get behind a silhouette that pushed the design envelope. First launched in October 2014, most pairs sold out upon arrival or shortly thereafter, a level of demand that reflects the magic that can happen when a brand allows a woman who is both a legit fashion force and also of sneaker culture, sit in the design driver’s seat. While most brands are deeply focused on launching game changing technology, Rih snuck in through the back door and dropped an instant classic, whose main function is nothing more or less than allowing the wearer to show up and show out.
And props of course to Puma, too, which has always been the sneaker brand with a bit more edge and willingness to experiment. A lot of fun things can happen when talented creatives are allowed to fly free and that was definitely the case with this shoe.
