Anya Hindmarch continues to examine the theme of retro-computer graphics, specifically “8 bit graphics and pioneering arcade games,” extending the concept from bags to boots as well as outerwear. The trend to add fun graphic appeal to outerwear is a big at the moment and one that feels like it’s at least partially driven in part by all the street photography of show attendees, chosen in many instances because of editorial friendly outerwear choices.
Hindmarch is by no means a Johnny come lately to the graphic game and the appeal of the boots and coats she presented for autumn 2016 results from the credentials she’s already laid down vis-a-vis punchy bag offerings from prior seasons (starting with her cereal-themed fashion bags that had everyone’s heads spinning!)
