Pump your brakes, everyone. After WWD yesterday put out a story saying FKA Twigs is planning to release a perfume with bespoke perfume company House of Matriarch, the company CEO, Christi Meshell, told Hollywood Reporter, “We are not planning to announce anything; Tahliah [aka FKA Twigs] and I are both annoyed by the spoiler.”
Apparently Meshell had a long conversation with WWD about the House of Matriarch brand, in which she briefly mentioned Twigs, and at the same time received a promise nothing would be written about the singer without a second conversation. Said Meshell, “It was an error on my part to trust the media with even a little tidbit of information about a diva such as Twigs.”
Meshell made Twig’s acquaintance two years ago when she created a bespoke fragrance for her inspired by her song “Two Weeks.” She added that the two have discussed creating a perfume specifically as a gift for her fans, though the singer has no interest in creating a mass-distributed licensed celebrity scent.
