Known for its playful appropriation of brand logos, creative collective Muschi Kreuzberg in Berlin has announced a capsule of tees, sweatshirts and a toilet brush featuring the phrase “Too Broke for Supreme” spray painted over the famous Supreme box logo. According to the brand, the funds will be used to raise funds for Supreme founder James Jebbia to fly Germany to open a Berlin store.
The letter reads in part:
“Too broke to quit our jobs (if we even have one) and wait online for your next drop. Way too broke to book a flight to New York, LA or Paris to visit your shop.
And most definitely: Too broke to get sued! That’s why we started this limited charity collection – all earnings will be saved for buying you a flight ticket to Berlin. So you can finally open that store we keep hearing rumours about and cant wait to have around.”
As for the use of the famous logo, Supreme famously sued Married to the Mob for using a parody Supreme Bitch logo three years ago (watch Mob founder, Leah McSweeney, discuss the fall out of the event below) and in other instances Supreme has shown it does not play with its trademarked red box. Muschi Kreuzberg’s statement capsule is a humorous one, let’s see how long the fun lasts.
