Singer Teyana Taylor last week appeared on Wendy Williams, literally bursting on the set wearing a back zip bomber jacket with low-slung ripped jeans that exposed skin-tone colored panties as paired with a sporty pair of lace up high heels.
Williams kicked off the interview by asking Taylor if she is married to NBA player Iman Shumpert. (In typical “The Wendy Show“ fashion, Williams screwed up his last name, pronouncing it Sumpter.) Williams brought up her appearance on MTV’s My Super Sweet Sixteen and asked her if she was from N.J., which Taylor corrected, letting her know she is from Harlem.
The two then discussed why it took some time after being signed by Kanye West’s label G.O.O.D for anything to pop off with her career.Williams then compared Taylor to Rihanna, leaving Taylor momentarily speechless, probably wondering whether Wendy was either being straight shady or somehow managed to forget that Taylor’s Twitter feud with Rihanna in 2013 upended a sneaker partnership Taylor at the time had with Adidas. That said, it should be noted that Rihanna recently gifted Taylor with a pair of shoes from her collaboration with Puma, signaling the moving on from past ugliness.
Taylor then talked about her prior boyfriend, Brandon Jennings, cheating on her with her friend Tae Heckard, who she told Williams she hasn’t spoken with since. The singer then talked about the birth of her baby, Junie, with Shumpert (who Taylor described as her “husband”) that took place in their home because there the labor progressed so quickly. Williams made a point of complimenting Taylor’s wedding ring, and (in this instance it’s a sure bet she was being s-h-a-d-y) wondered aloud why it was a ruby rather than a diamond. Taylor said Shumpert bought her a ruby because it is more valuable than a diamond.
Taylor spoke about making Kanye West video, “Fade” with Shumpert and how the shower scene almost led to “Junie No. 2.” In a follow up video, Taylor appeared with her daughter, Junie, and spoke about her “Baby Bhudda Bug Wraps” for children.
