Former Jimmy Choo footwear designer Tamara Mellon has relaunched her namesake footwear brand, this time choosing a direct-to-consumer model designed to keep the price of the shoe down by eliminating the need for mark up that comes with selling to wholesale accounts.
The brand will include two sub-brands, Collection, which speaks to timeless silhouettes like pumps, and Lab, which is made up of one-off unique styles. The very first style Lab, Moriyama, is an ultra-suede, laser cut boot mimicking the look (and sexiness) of fishnet stockings.
Available in three height variations, the boots celebrate the sensuality of Japanese photographer Daido Moriyama’s “Tights & Lips” series shown at London’s Michael Hoppen Gallery in 2012. Have a look at the Moriyama style below, as a couple of additional Lab styles that are coming soon.
Made in Italy and priced from $550-$895, the Lab Moriyama boots are now available at tamaramellon.com.
