Young M.A does it again for the culture. The Brooklyn rapper who has restored New York’s rap roots pride with her lyrical acumen today released a video with her remix of Mobb Deep’s “Quiet Storm,” a single first released in 1999. In her version, M.A. raps about trying be more feminine, spitting, “I tried to be girly once, but fortunately, it didn’t work.”
The 24-year old M.A had one of the hottest records of summer ’16, “OOOUUU,” whose video on YouTube as of today has racked up close to 42 million views. The single has been remixed by various rappers, including Remy Ma, French Montana, A$AP Ferg, Jadakiss, Nicki Minaj, Meek Mill, among others.
While still indie, M.A. has a marketing and distribution partnership with Duck Down Music, founded by Black Moon rapper Buckshot.
