What started as a collaboration with artist Mark Quinn as part of Christian Dior‘s Bond Street London opening this past June, has led to a creative collaboration between Dior and a crew of seven artists tapped to enhance the iconic Lady Dior bag with their art.
Comprised of British artists Jason Martin, Mat Collishaw and Marc Quinn, plus Americans Matthew Porter, Daniel Gordon, and Chris Martin, the effort has given birth to some visually compelling creations.
That said, it’s seems rather odd that not one of the artists were women. We can think of a few, like British artists Tracey Emin and Sue Webster and in the United States, Barbara Kruger, Marilyn Minter or Mickalene Thomas, who would have been perfect for this project.
To celebrate the launch of the artists bags Dior will host to a pop-up installation at its Miami Design District boutique during Art Basel on November 29, 2016 followed by a brick and mortar pop-up in Beverly Hills on December 1, 2016.
