Adidas announced this week that its much-talked about Futurecraft shoe, a silhouette produced through use of 3D-printed technology, will soon be available at retail. The all-black shoe features a primeknit upper with a midsole made from 3D-printed materials. The catch is, the launch is an extremely limited one and by the time you read this, reservations to nab a pair (open December 12th-13th) are sure to be filled.
But have no fear, more 3-D products are coming, according to Mikal Peveto, the head of Adidas’s Future team, who commented, “This is just the beginning. Creating customized shoes based on an individual’s footprint, including their running style, foot shape, performance needs and personal preferences, is a north star for the industry and Adidas is leading with cutting edge innovations,” said Mikal Peveto, senior director of Adidas’s Future team.
Priced at $333, those with confirmed reservations can pick up their pairs at Adidas’s new 5th Avenue flagship in New York on December 15th. A limited number of the shoes will also be made available on the same date in London and Tokyo.
