Update: The full Baltimore Project documentary is now available to view below.
Speaking on the project, FKA Twigs said, “Over the past couple of years, Baltimore has always seemed to be in the news for really sad and tragic things. When I was thinking about doing a dance project, the obvious places would be LA or New York but I thought why not go to a place that obviously has so much soul and so much amazing energy? You’ll be able to connect with them rather than being another artist that is passing through.”
Original story continues below.
It’s a very short clip, but nonetheless provides a little taste of what to expect for FKA Twig‘s Baltimore Project documentary. Filmed in July, Twigs put out an open call to dancers in Baltimore to participate in what was billed as a five-hour workshop. What the event actually ended up being is unknown.
In July, Twigs posted images from the event to Instagram and wrote, “Baltimore we did it. can you see the love and light shining in. every single soul who danced today was truly beautiful. thank you so much to @ramonbaynes@dominic.lawrence and @kashpowell for their incredible choreography and energy today and a huge shout out to @chezzie_b and @kanerflex for sharing their talent with all of us. Baltimore i learnt so much and am so humbled by your talent and soul. i will sleep so well tonight <3”
The film was sponsored in part by WeTransfer, which says it will reveal the entire film tomorrow, December 7, 2016.
