Diana Gordon Releases Her First Video For ‘Woman,’ A Timely Reminder On The Power Of The Feminine

December 8, 2016. Leave a Comment

Talented singer and songwriter Diana Gordon continues to reveal more parts of her public self to the world, this time with her very first video for the Noise Club & Illangelo-produced single “Woman.” An unabashed pro-woman anthem themed around the great and godly qualities of women, it’s a simple enough concept that one would think by now the world would be ready to embrace, and yet, given recent events, the song is, both a battle cry and a reminder that much work still needs to be done.

It’s been an auspicious month and year for Gordon. In addition to the video, it was announced last week that the three songs she wrote for Beyoncé’s Lemonade album are up for three different Grammy nominations.

Directed by Cameron McCool, the black and white video was shot with New York City as a backdrop in a cold November day. The power of women is beautifully represented by five women, all of whom at the time of shooting were close to giving birth. “We shot this video on a cold day in November. Five pregnant women on the cusp of giving birth and hungry, everyone having to pee at the same time. It was also one of the calmest days I’ve ever experienced. We all wanted to capture the incredible beauty of this ancient magic called creation of life. I also wanted to give them classic beautiful images to show their children when they were older,” said Gordon.

She added, “This song, that is rock ‘n’ roll reincarnated, that celebrates your mother, my mother, your sister, and my sister is just my way to stand up for the woman next to me and all those unseen. We need each other and the world really needs us right now.”
