While Azealia Banks‘s real life as it intersects with the public may be fill with annoying drama, when it comes to making music the quality of her efforts is always high. With no official announcement, today the Harlemite quietly released “Crown,” a Lunice-produced track that embodies her talent for creating a uniquely blended New York sound, rooted in her confident command of a wide range of vocal styles, enabling her to spit, sing and emote over a distorted and chopped up retro house beat.
In Banks social media news, Twitter has mysteriously reactivated her account (though she hasn’t posted to it), and on the singer’s Instagram account her last 12 Instagram posts have been black boxes with no accompanying caption. All very mysterious!
Paper magazine provided some clues, reporting that Banks has uploaded an image of what is said to be a new contract to her private Twitter account. There are also rumors she is working on a mixtape titled “Fantasea II: The Second Wave,” a follow up to her 2012 mixtape, “Fantasea.”
