Frution Creates Furry Vans Era Sneaker In Homage To Gucci’s Alessandro Michelle

February 11, 2017. Leave a Comment

Las Vegas based retailer and label Frution has created a line of Vans Era sneakers in homage to Gucci designer Alessandro Michelle’s very popular goat hair slippers, a design he first showed on a February 2015 runway that’s given birth to a whole host of fur-themed shoes and slippers.

In an interview with Bergdorf Goodman earlier this year, Michelle spoke about the inspiration for the fur slippers, “I have asked my cobbler many times to add soles to my slip-ons,” said Michelle. “From there, I realized that it would have been a good thing to create the Gucci slip-ons lined with fur for the winter. It was also a different way to create a fetish object with the Gucci loafer. Barefoot with fur is so sexy.”

Frution describes its tribute design as “Dogtown meets uptown as the Vans Era is boldly reimangined to slippers complete with Alessandro-esque fur elegance mixing luxury innovation with a millennial authentic grit.”

Available with pink fur and a red shoe or brown for and a black shoe, the furry Vans Era sneaker is priced at $350 and available from men’s sizes 5-12. Visit shop-fruitionlv.com for more info.

Part of his debut collection with the retailer, the men's "giant fit" chino priced at 89.50 is 100% sold out! Relecting the popularity of the silhouette, the women's wide-leg pleated cargo is also sold out.

With wider fits and chino swinging back into popularity, we can't help but wonder what sneakers and shoes will be coming along for the ride. Any nominations?

The GOAT Serena Williams says farewell to her care The GOAT Serena Williams says farewell to her career as a professional tennis player in the September issue of American Vogue.

In the cover story, which is a must read, Williams shares some thoughts on her evolution away from tennis and says,"Believe me, I never wanted to have to choose between tennis and a family. I don’t think it’s fair. If I were a guy, I wouldn’t be writing this because I’d be out there playing and winning while my wife was doing the physical labor of expanding our family. Maybe I’d be more of a Tom Brady if I had that opportunity. Don’t get me wrong: I love being a woman, and I loved every second of being pregnant with Olympia. I was one of those annoying women who adored being pregnant and was working until the day I had to report to the hospital—although things got super complicated on the other side. And I almost did do the impossible: A lot of people don’t realize that I was two months pregnant when I won the Australian Open in 2017."

The cover editorial was styled by Gabriella Karefa-Johnson, who in 2020 became the first black woman to style a U.S. Vogue cover.

This cover was also one of the last projects hairstylist #LatishaChong worked on before she sadly passed away in July this year.
