As high fashion has caught up with the askew proportions and ruffled minimalist design statements that have made J.W. Anderson beloved by fashion’s deepest obsessives, the Irish designer has moved ahead by experimenting with fabrics, layering on texture as a bigger part of his design message than we have seen in prior collection.
Anderson especially had fun with a iridescent textile, though there were a cornucopia of fabrics, including the natural brown fur that has been popping up a lot as of late, along with the coolest shearling top and skirt set.
Interestingly, while other high-fashion labels have left behind sneakers as a runway statement, Anderson embraced them, showing many of his looks pared with high-top sneakers.
Anderson doesn’t usually show a lot of bags on his fall runways, and that was the case with the fall 2017 presentation. That said, the label’s “Pierce” bag will be tough to top as the go-to statement for chic women worldwide.
