L.A. designer Melody Ehsani and photographer Hassan Hallaj have joined forced to create a Reebok Pump sneaker paying homage to Islam’s lovers. Sized for men and women, the shoe is Ehsani first his/her shoe enabling lovers to make a coordinated shoe statement.
Reflecting the theme of love, the lining of each shoe is embedded with a set of two lovers image as shot by Hallaj. As well, the jacquard on the shoe is designed to resemble the Senegalese mats he uses to background most of his images.
Additionally, the hand of Fatima is embroidered on the side to repel haters and each pair of kicks comes with three sets of laces. Campaign images for the collection are captioned with loving quotes via Common ft. Mary J. Blige, Method Man ft. Mary J. Blige, Lauryn Hill and L.L. Cool J
“At a time when our country is going through a great deal of distress due to the recent attempts to ban immigrants, especially from Islamic countries, it’s our priviledge to show you one of the trillions of examples of the beauty that comes out of those cultures and people,” wrote Ehsani in a note about the collection.
This collection will drop on February 10th at melodyehsani.com.
