Bombay based label Nor Black Nor White offers up a new collection for spring, titled “Shima,” a reference to the garment’s sheen, which was inspired by the hazy dusk colors of of Delhi’s sky.
Designers Amrit Kumar and Mriga Kapadiya worked with Indian artisans to create a shimmer effect on hand-dyed cotton based fabric. The result is an ethereal collection of sporty separates including hooded jackets, jumpsuits and cropped tops, as well as dresses and churidars.
“The people we thought about while creating this series are the silent yet shiny ninjas that move in style and grace through the apocalyptic ways. Made for any gender you choose to be,”said Kumar and Kapadiya.
In addition to the lookbook, the two designer created a “Shimmy Shimmy Ya” video, whose soundtrack includes a mix of music by Desiree, Tweet and Usher. Meant to be an ode to beauty and strength, the two added that the collection is “dedicated to all the girls in the world who dance through life, the sea, the spirit of Bombay and the idea of community.”
