Born in Tennessee, June’s music is described as a mixture of folk, blues, gospel, soul, country, Appalachian and bluegrass though at moments her sound conveys an ’80s country punk edge and reminds a bit of Los Angeles punk band X or perhaps more accurately X’s country side project, The Knitters. Certainly she has the swagger and punk appeal of X and The Knitters frontwoman, Exene Cervanka.
Her “Shakedown” single and visual includes vocal contributions from her father, her two brothers and Norah Jones. The song is from her fourth album “The Order of Time,” both of which you can check out below.
