Brooklyn-based artist Brian Donnelly aka KAWS has announced on Instagram plans for a collaboration with Japanese retailer Uniqlo and Peanuts. In the image KAWS posted, Snoopy is shown wearing a “Joe Kaws” t-shirt, a play on the character’s “Joe Cool” alter ego that first appeared in a Peanut’s comic in 1971.
He didn’t provide details on what would be included in the collection, but one has to assume if offerings are similar to his collaboration with Uniqlo in 2016, it will be made up of t-shirts. This collection will hit Uniqlo sometime in April 2017 and is sure to sell out quickly.
On Instagram, KAWS pointed out that in 1995 he tagged a billboard for MetLife insurance company that included Peanuts characters Snoopy and Woodstock. KAWS started his artist life in the ’90s as a grafitti artist, tagging billboards and other publicly-placed ads.
