Anna Sui has announced plans to link with Macy‘s on a capsule collection made in collaboration with the department store’s private label INC line. According to press, Macy’s fall fashion message this year is inspired by Western themes and the Anna Sui offerings will speak to the through lace details, fringe and embroidered florals.
Sui has long been known for a punk femme look and a love for both florals and a dark color palette. Born in Detroit and a graduate of Parsons School of designer, Sui established her namesake label in 1991 and opened her first store in SoHo in 1992. Prior collaborations include Hello Kitty, Anthropologie, Barbie Doll and Victoria’s Secret.
In recognition of her contributions, the Fashion and Textile Museum in London, is planning an exhibition of her work, which opens on May 26, 2017. Titled “The World of Anna Suit” it’s the first time a retrospective of an American designer has been held in the United Kingdom.
The collaborative assortment will include women’s and men’s items apparel, as well as women’s shoes, jewelry and hangbags, and will be sold at 25 Macy’s stores and macys.com in early September.
