Entrepreneur Blac Chyna visited Flight Club in Los Angeles for Complex‘s latest sneaker shopping episode, hosted by Joe Puma. Putting aside the fact Chyna wore heels to the show (possibly a first!), a big topic of discussion was how her Washington D.C. upbringing influenced the types of sneakers she’s into.
“[Nike Foamposite sneakers] were super expensive we already knew if you wore Foamposites, you had a little check,” said Chyna, who noted that in D.C., New Balance 991, 992 and Nike Goadome boots were popular when she was growing up. She added that while she now lives in Los Angeles, she still hasn’t adopted local favorite Vans.
Chyna pointed out a pair of Jordan 1 sneaker as one she loves, but admitted she doesn’t keep track of the various numbers. “I don’t know the numbers, I just buy ’em” she said. She also told the story of posting an image of herself wearing an Adidas Originals tracksuit with a pair of Jordan 5 sneakers on Instagram four years ago and said at that time she was lambasted in the comments for wearing two different athletic brands, a practice that has become commonplace.
In speaking on her son, King, she said he is more into cars than sneakers, and noted that her on-again-off-again boyfriend, Rob Kardashian, has been the plug for the Adidas Originals Yeezy sneakers she has been spotted in.
What did Chyna end up purchasing? A pair of Jordan 1 and 13 kicks for herself and copper “Foams” for her assistant.
