Score one again for the power of social media! The off hand tweet in which user @1800sadgal joked that an image of Rihanna and Lupita Nyong’o sitting front row at a Miu Miu fashion show looked like the plot for a heist movie is actually going to become a reality.
Rihanna looks like she scams rich white men and lupita is the computer smart best friend that helps plan the scans https://t.co/PhWs1xd3nj

According to Entertainment Weekly, the concept became a reality at Cannes Film Festival in France, where Netflix landed the project in an aggressive bidding war, beating several other interested parties.
Ava DuVernay has been tapped to direct and sources say “Insecure” creator and writer Issa Rae has begun working on the script. The studio is looking at a 2018 production start date, at which point DuVernay’s schedule opens up.
After the tweet went viral in mid-April, and Rihanna and Nyong’o expressed interest in working together, both DuVernay and Rae also jumped into the mix with Tweets.

Like a lot of other people on Twitter at the moment, we hope @1800sadgal not only receives a writing credit, but also a check.
