At the summer 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics, Jamaican track star Elaine Thompson swept the 100 and 200-meter sprints, making her the first female sprinter and first among all Jamaican to accomplish this feat since 1988.
In recognition of her achievements, Nike has honored her with a collection of five silhouettes: Internationalist, Air Max Jewell, Cortez, Air Max Thea and Blazer Low. Titled “Beauty x Power,” the grouping is dedicated to female athletes who have broken boundaries.
All five sneakers feature white, perforated leather uppers with gold detailing and logos, plus each shoe’s lace aglet is engrave with Thompson’s signature mantra “one life, one chance,” along with her winning Olympic times of 21:78 for 200 meters and 10:71 for 100 meters.
The Nike Beautiful x Powerful shoes will drop on June 1, 2017 on Nike’s SNKRS app and at retailers globally.
