Undercover’s utterly charming collection for spring 2018 looks as though it could be worn by the cast of Oliver Twist were the movie rejiggered to take place some time in a future century. Titled “Spiritual Noise,” the designs are actually an ode to Japan’s underground culture through the ages, especially the ’80s punk era when label designer Jun Takahashi came of age.
The season also sees the launch of Undercover Records, a make believe label and set of groups, for which there’s a line of merch detailed with band logos plus graphics detailing tour dates, all written in an array of languages, including English, German and Arabic.
From beginning to end it’s all very appealing and perfect, and like everything Takashi makes, we’re like, please sir, may we have some more.
