Adidas Partners With Female Artists To Create 50 UltraBoosts Inspired By U.S. States

July 2, 2017. Leave a Comment

Adidas has announced a collaborative effort with 10 female artists to create 50 state-themed UltraBoost X sneakers, a brand new silhouette designed and sized specifically for women.

As selected by Refinery29, the team of artists is made up of Meagan Morrison, Maria “Too Fly” Castillo, Bree Poort, Lizzie Darden, Jenny Kiker, Sophia Chang, Mari Orr, Jen Mussari, Carrie Chan, Jordana Schrager and Refinery29 editor Alyssa Coscarelli.

“It’s not about competing with each other, but lifting each other up and celebrating the diversity of this country,” said fashion illustrator Meagan Morrison who designed sneakers inspired by Alabama, California, Connecticut, Missouri and Virginia.

“We can find beauty despite diversity and, more importantly, because of diversity, from shorelines to glaciers, from farmland to mountaintop to prairie. If everything was the same, nothing would be remarkable,” said chemist turned artist Mari Orr who designed sneakers inspired by Alaska, Iowa, Maryland, Nebraska and South Dakota.

The custom sneakers will be available on adidas.com/ultra, starting July 4, 2017 through July 11th available to bid on through a silent auction, One hundred percent of the funds raised will be donated to Women Win, an organization that empowers girls to build leadership skills and address gender equity through sport. The auction includes an option to donate and support the cause without having to win and share across social channels.

Born in Australia, Zhang began her career in fashion in 2009 with a blog titled Shine By Three. While blogging, Zhang was also attending school and posseses a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Law from the University of Sydney.

While Zhang looks dope and it's wonderful to see her appointment, according to recent reporting on Conde Nast pub Bon Appetit by Reply All podcast (which, ironically, is currently going through it's own diversity meltdown), chief Anna Wintour first put the word out to staff to hire more editors of color in 2018, yes, 2018, a mere three years ago!
INSANE STORY AHEAD: Lady Gaga's dog walker was sho INSANE STORY AHEAD: Lady Gaga's dog walker was shot in Los Angeles by individual who then stole two of three of her French Bulldogs! The crime took place at 10 PM on Wednesday night in Hollywood.

According to a recent TMZ update, crime scene video has emerged showing a white car rolling up on the dog walker. Two men emerge from the vehicle and one, who is brandishing a gun, tells the dog walker, "Give it up."

The dog walker put up a fight (!!) before the gun goes off, striking him in the chest. The two thiefs each grab one dog and flee the scene. In the video, the black dog shown here, whose name is Asia, manages to escape and is shown running back to the fallen dog walker.

Gaga, who is currently in Rome working on a project, is currently offering at $500,00 award for the safe return of Koji and Gustav (on the slide). The dog walker was hospitalized but thankfully will recover.
