VFiles has announced that Harlem-born designer Dapper Dan aka Daniel Day, Khloe Kardashian, Emma Grede and Jimmy Moffat, will act as mentors for the platform’s ninth runway presentation, which will take place on September 6, 2017, during New York Fashion Week.
Long admired within hip hop culture, Day’s profile was boosted in June when Gucci presented a runway that included a copy of a jacket Day designed for Olympian Diane Dixon, made when his Harlem store was at its height in the early ’90s. The Gucci copy caused an uproar, which led to the luxury label reaching out to Day about collaborating. Day has confirmed Gucci reached out to him, though no partnership as of yet has been announced.
Prior VFiles runway show mentors include Naomi Campbell, Mel Ottenberg and Young Thug, who used a design by VFiles runway designer Alessandro Trincone to wear on his Jeffrey album cover.
If you’re a creative that would like to be considered for the presentation, VFiles is accepting applicants until August 7, 2017 for designers, stylists, photographers, models, make up artists and fair stylists who would like to be included in the show.
In order to be considered, create a profile on VFiles and follow the instructions here.
