July 23, 2017. Leave a Comment

Vogue in partnership with CFDA (Council of Fashion Designers of America) has announced its class of 2017 ten finalist competing for its CFDA Vogue fashion fund (CVFF) prize, an award of $400,000 and mentorship from CFDA members and Vogue editors.

A mix of fashion and accessory designers, in order to qualify, labels must be U.S. based, in business for two years with a paid staff and must have received editorial coverage and orders from top retailers.

The 10 labels and their creative leads are as follows:

Ahlem: Ahlem Manai-Platt
Chromat: Becca McCharen
Dyne: Christopher Bevans
Jordan Askill: Jordan Askill
Mateo: Matthew Harris
RtA: Eli Azran
Sandy Liang: Sandy Liang
Telfar: Telfar Clemens
Vaquera: Patric DiCaprio, Bryn Taubensee, David Moses, and Claire Sully
Victor Glemaud: Victor Glemaud

Over the next few weeks, judges will review their current collections, and in October, they will present at a fashion show held at the Chateau Marmont in Los Angeles. At the same, some will present their spring 2018 collections during New York Fashion Week in September.

For 2017, there are four new judges: Nicole Phelps, Vogue Runway director; Eva Chen, head of fashion partnerships at Instagram; Roopal Patel, fashion director at Saks Fifth Avenue; and designer Joseph Altuzarra, who was awarded the CVFF in 2011. Earlier today, they narrowed down the piles of applications to just 10 labels that make up the class of 2017. A panel member in prior years, Condé Nast artistic director and Vogue editor-in-chief  Anna Wintour has stepped down from the role because of time constraints.

Check out a recent look from each of the finalists below.
