Rappers Chynna Rogers and Kari Faux performed this past Thursday (August 17, 2017) in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, at Friends & Lovers, a venue that filled up quickly with a diverse crowd eager to dance and have a good time. DJ Tara warmed up the crowd with a groove-filled set.
The event was sponsored by Heineken Green Room, an ongoing series of concerts supporting a wide range of musicians. In the face of major hip hop festivals showing the tendency to under book female talent, it’s great to see them consistently receive support from the Heineken series.
Arkansas native Kari Faux‘s single “Low Key” single is featured on the soundtrack for “Insecure” season 2, along with “Insecure” by Jazmine Sullivan and Bryson Tiller and Leikeli47’s “Attitude.” Last year, “Insecure”‘s Issa Rae reached out to Faux to create a song for the series’ final episode.
Faux is also a member of of Royalty, the creative collective behind Donald Glover’s series “Atlanta.”
